Flows Introduction

What is Web-to-web?

The Web-to-web strategy is a mobile user acquisition approach that directs users to a web app instead of directly to a mobile app.

Unlike traditional user acquisition funnels, the Web-to-web approach involves a longer, more sales-focused process. Users interact with a web page before transitioning to the mobile app, often requiring them to purchase premium access upfront, which demands a higher level of commitment. While this might lead to lower initial conversion rates, it helps to "warm up" users, resulting in more engaged and informed customers.

Advantages

Lower Fees

Web payment processors like Stripe or Paddle charge significantly lower commissions—typically around 4%—compared to the 15–30% charged by the App Store or Google Play.

Flexible payment options

With web payment processors, payouts can occur every few days, depending on the region and volume, compared to the App Store or Google Play’s less frequent payout schedules. Faster payouts help eliminate cash flow gaps, enabling a stronger focus on paid user acquisition.

Real-time Attribution

Web acquisition operates outside Apple’s SKAN framework, offering key benefits:

  • Lower CPC (cost per click)
  • No privacy thresholds
  • Real-time postbacks
  • Deterministic (mostly) attribution

Efficient A/B Testing

Web-to-web allows faster A/B testing implementation and analysis since changes don’t rely on app updates. This agility enables quicker marketing strategy adjustments.

Pricing Flexibility

Without app store restrictions, developers can optimize conversions with strategies like custom pricing, limited-time offers, and even daily subscription plans.

Enhanced Refund Control

Developers can implement their own refund policies. For disputed transactions, developers can argue the case with banks, providing evidence to uphold terms.

Audience Segmentation and Broader Reach

Custom quizzes and personalized content improve conversion rates. Additionally, the web’s broad accessibility expands reach, especially in regions with app store restrictions, while diversifying traffic sources.

How Does Flows Work?

At its core, Flows is powered by three integrated components: the Apphud Dashboard, WebJS SDK, and Flow Builder Kit, seamlessly working together.

Apphud

Flows is fully integrated into the Apphud platform, enabling you to create, manage, and configure your flows directly from the Apphud Dashboard.

  • Built-In Integration with Stripe and Paddle: Easily connect these payment processors to handle transactions seamlessly.
  • Customizable Install Attribution: Choose any attribution providers—AppsFlyer, Branch, Adjust or other.
    Apphud Deep Link (coming soon).
Note: Apphud Link is a web-to-app matching technology that combines probabilistic and deterministic attribution for improved accuracy when matching web clicks to app installs, similar to AppsFlyer’s OneLink methodology.
  • Email Automation: Apphud automatically sends post-purchase emails, including links to install the app and manage subscriptions. These email templates are fully customizable. Configure DNS records in the dashboard to send emails from your domain.
  • Restore Premium Access: Allow users to restore their premium access via email or install attribution, with an optional fallback to email restoration.
  • Comprehensive Analytics: Leverage the full power of Apphud Analytics to track key metrics like ARPPU, MRR, cancellations, and trial conversions. Web purchases are seamlessly integrated into Apphud Charts.
  • Third-Party Integrations: Choose from a large set of integrations and send subscription events to external tools.

Web SDK

  • Universal Compatibility: Seamlessly connect any flow to Apphud, regardless of how it was created.
  • Lightweight and Easy to Use: Integrate the Web SDK into your flow in seconds by adding just a few lines of code to the <head> section.
